MRI Scanning | X-Ray Scanning
Though the digitalisation of X-Rays and other medical records is a fairly recent innovation, here at Pearl Scan we have been offering x-ray scanning as one of our services since the business began a decade ago. We have done major x-ray scanning projects over the years for many clients, both public sector and private, in both human and animal anatomy fields.
We Can Scan the following types of X-Ray
- Medical x-rays
- Dental x-rays
- Veterinary x-rays
- MRI x-rays
Advantages of X-Ray Scanning
There are many advantages to having x-rays digitised through x-ray scanning, some you may already know and have lead you here and others you might not even have thought of. Here's an outline of some of the most beneficial:
Productivity
The digitisation of your x-rays can vastly improve the productivity of your radiology department as well as of that of doctors and nurses. Digital X-rays can be viewed virtually anywhere at anytime rather than having to find the actual physical version. This makes for faster searching and faster viewing which can improve efficiency without risking lives.
Better Organisation
Thanks to our required indexing, x-rays and other medical documentation can be organised in a way that you choose. This can be by patient name, reference number or any other way making it more convenient to access what you need.
Superior off-site diagnosis
Sometimes the opinion of a specialist or professional is required for specific cases and they might not be onsite at that particular time or they might work at a different facility. Because the files are digital, they can be emailed or viewed remotely for that all important diagnosis. This could save potentially thousands of lives every year.
Space saving
Within every walk of life space is at a premium, especially in the likes of hospitals. X-rays can take quite a great amount of space. The physical versions can be disposed of or moved elsewhere where they will be out of the way. This is excellent for obtaining needed space in over-crowded facilities, as well as a health and safety point of view.
Greater image quality
It has been said quite often that the scanned file of an x-ray can produce a more detailed result than looking at the physical x-ray film itself. Images are scanned at very high resolution to make sure to capture every detail possible and often the brighter screen of a computer, laptop or tablet can show up more detail than previously seen. The last thing that needs to happen is misdiagnosis, so why not make it all the easier to get it right every time?
X-Ray Scanning Conversion Formats
You can have your x-rays scanned and converted to virtually any plausible format you can imagine, but below are some of the more popular choices:
An industry standard across a wide range of fields, you will probably already be familar with the trusty PDF. Able to store considerable detail whilst loading quickly thanks to small file sizes.
DICOM
Or Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine, is a standard for handling, storing, printing, and transmitting information in medical imaging. DICOM files can be exchanged between two entities that are capable of receiving image and patient data in DICOM format.
JPG
Most of you will already be familar with the JPG format. JPG, or JPEG, can hold a considerable amount of detail, usually more than a high quality PDF, but can be considerably larger in size.
What size X-Ray's can be scanned?
Esentially, any size that's on the market today. From 14" x 17" down to 44mm specific areas. This includes everything in between and all standard sizes.
What is the turnaround time for scanning X-Rays?
At Pearl Scan we always try to give the best possible estimates on turnaround times, but this can normally depend on the quantity and the quality of the x-rays that need converting. It usually takes anything from a few days to a few weeks, but it's always best to contact us to find out more about your request specifically. You can do this by calling us on any of the numbers at the top of this page or to email us here, or fill out our convenient online form by clicking here.
